About Burn and Grain
Burn and Grain is a small independent reference site about pyrography. It is laid out the way the work goes, one stage after another, and each page tries to answer one question fully, with the numbers first.
What you will find here
- How-to notes for every stage of the process, with amounts, sizes and times.
- Fix notes that start from what you see when something has gone wrong.
- Charts made to be printed and kept within reach.
- Tools that do the arithmetic for your own project.
- Narrow gear guides, each about one tool or one consumable.
Where the numbers come from
The figures on this site are standard practice for pyrography: the same numbers printed in manufacturer instructions, on packaging and in long-established references. Where sources disagree we give a range instead of a single figure, and we say so. The maker's own instructions always win where they differ from a general rule.
How gear is chosen
We do not run a test bench and we do not claim hands-on testing. Gear guides compare products by what their Amazon listings state. How we pick gear explains the method and its limits.
How the site is paid for
Links to Amazon are affiliate links. If you buy through one, the site may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. That is the only income. Nobody pays to be included, and a product is never listed because of its commission. See the affiliate disclosure.
